I have written this so my family can keep track of me, I dont get to talk to them as much as I should
Especially my Mum, who has supported and worried about me since I moved over here - Thanks Mum!
As you are all probably aware, Im extremely poor at the moment, so food is very important and the cost even more so. Whenever I have friends or family visit me from the UK, I have them bring me British products that are difficult to find in Spain and my kitchen cupboard is home to many things I have to invent a use for. Well, a good friend of mine has loaned me an oven (thats a hot thing that you bake in, lol) and I found these scotts porridge oats in the pantry. My favourite type of cookie (or biscuit) is flapjacks, made with golden syrup (another British product) and oats (oatmeal), so I made a batch of those - but I wanted to experiment so I started looking around the internet and I found the most delicious recipe ever, oatmeal raisin cookies, its obviously an American recipe, but they sure know how to make cookies, so I gave it a go, yum yum. So here I sit with my dogs drooling and my friend joining me in an oatmeal cookie feast. Today has been a good day.
Every time I think I am on to something that will give me a regular (albeit basic) income, close to home and in a field I am experienced, it always turns out to be total pigswill.
Why is it that people cant be honest when you speak with them about something on the phone? They build up your hopes, you go to talk with them face to face and, guess what, they have mislead you. What do they gain by that? Its just a waste of my time and theirs! Did they hope to persuade me that I could, or would, do a job that is either too far away to be realistic (65km each way), in an area of expertise I have no experience, or paying less that the petrol it would cost me to get there? Get real people, we need to survive!!
So its back to the internet to find even more ways of trying to earn a living. My brain is exploding with the amount of information I am trying to absorb as quickly as possible. You see, if I dont get my phone bill paid VERY soon, they are going to cut of my broadband and without that I have no hope in hell of continuing down this path. I am wracking my brain trying to think of a way to raise sufficient to keep them at bay for the moment, until something I have on line goes "pop".
Stupid thing is that I have over $200 in clickbank, but the payments are all from the same customer on the same credit card, so it doesnt qualify for payout. If I could get two more clients to buy a product I am affiliated with, using different "types" of credit card, they would send me a check at the end of this month, and half my problems will be solved.
Looks like my only hope is if that payment I am due from the courts for unfair dismissal, finally pays out and I can pay back all my debts and get myself back on my feet again. Start over and do it right.
Have just started Ed Dales 30 day challenge, it deserves a look, its free and sets out to teach internet marketing to the absolute beginner. So, if my internet doesnt get cut off in the meantime, I will be getting some great lessons from there.
Well, keep working, keep trying and keep winning.
Till next time
Here are two of my dogs, about to start fighting over a bone. Theyve both got one, but they want each others - "the grass is always greener on the other side" eh?
So much has happened since my last post and I have just found the time to get back here and update you.
I went to court on September 2nd to battle an ex employer for unfair dismissal, I won. That sounds like good news doesnt it? Well yes, but, the court hasnt decided the amount of compensation I am due, so I dont have any payout yet. That totals 9 months with no income, no job, I couldnt even claim the unemployment benefit I am due, because of the dispute. How stupid is that? How can anyone survive when they arent permitted to work and cant claim?
So I continue to struggle to feed myself and the landlord is losing patience with me. Its coming up to winter and I dont know where I will go if he decides that I have to leave.
Funnily I read something today that struck me as pertinent. "A persons income will be the average income of their five best friends." When I thought about it and added up my five best friends income, it totalled a grand sum of.........ZERO! You see, we are all in the same boat. Seems I need to find some "successful" friends and forget those that are "dragging me down." Thats awful isnt it? These friends have stood by me thoughout my entire hardship period and I would feel like a complete heel if I ditched them now, so what the answer? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I am now, and have been for these nine months, attempting to make a living on line. I cant see me working for someone else, Im just not cut out for slogging my guts out 9 to 5 to put money in someone elses pocket.
So with that in mind, I leave you, to continue on my internet journey to discover where I fit into this whole scheme and find my slot, settle there and then help others do the same for themselves. Until next time.
Here is a quick video of the journey I used to take when travelling to my "job", I loved the journey, the job left a lot to be desired. (Spot the dog in the windscreen and enjoy the Floyd track!)
I live in Spain It's a nice country really, just a bit difficult to get by when the rules are different and the language foreign. I moved here in the year 2000 and boy have I had some experiences. I hope to be able to entertain you with some of my mishaps and failed attempts to succeed, it has all gone to put me where I am now and make me the person I have become. Added to that I have aged eight years and didn't even notice. I really don't feel "older", when chatting on-line with someone 29 I truly consider myself the same age, until they say something like "yes maam", oh hell does that makes me take stock and realise my age. So, with this blog I'm going try to give an honest, simple and entertaining account of my eight years here, and updates on how things are going.
So whats happening today? Well firstly Im hiding from my bank manager, he's calling me to deposit money into my account, which I do not have. Briefly, I have had no income since February, when I was unfairly dismissed by a questionable employer, and am awaiting the court case in order to be compensated for such. The case is Monday 2nd September, (next week) and I just have to hold out till then.
Secondly I am trying to sell my car, that money would mean an instant solution to the problems I am suffering at the moment. Namely the bank, no food, fleas on my dogs and money for next months rent. Oh boy have I sunk low.
Thirdly I continue to pursue an on-line income by writing reviews and articles, and clicking like crazy on PTC sites every day. I just did a quick calculation and currently have 120$ across 40+ sites, but cannot cash out because they all have a minimum payment clause and I haven't reached it on any of them yet. I also dabble in affiliate marketing and have earned 160$, which I cant cash in because its on clickbank and I don't yet meet the criteria for payout.
What about leisure time? In a nutshell, I dont really have any, I spend from morning till night on the computer, reading everything possible to learn how to earn money. Today I am updating my affiliate marketing skills, and will be placing a couple of adds in a couple of "free" places.
The only leisure time I really get is with my dogs. I currently have four, but am caring for a friends elderly german shepherd, so five live here at the moment. I love to play with them, train them and walk with them, those are my favourite moments of the day. My only problem, of course, is feeding them well, they are on the cheapest dog food I can get at the moment and will manage. Roll on next week, the first things I am going to buy will be a huge sack of the best food I can get for them, and some serious flea control so the poor things stop scratching. One of them even has a flea allergy and is losing all he hair, she looks like an old man going bald (poor baby.) Here is a very short vid of a couple of the dogs at play.
Please keep popping back, I promise there will be more!
Still in Spain after fourteen years and continuing the struggle to stay. I find myself more and more involved in the rescue and care of unwanted and abandoned animals here in Spain.
That is why I pursue an online income, it allows me to pay for the upkeep of my animals and keeps me at home so I can give them quality time.
All of my actions are for the sake of dogs, cats and other strays.
